Q: Would you suggest any other replacements, while the gearbox is off? A: Yes, carefully appraise if the flywheel surface needs machine skimming. Look for bad scoring or scratches. Moreover, check that the small ballbearing in the middle of the flywheel is OK. If not, change it. It is a standard SKF size. Do not worry too much if you find a little bit of oil in the bell housing but if the cranckshaft rear seal is leaking badlly, that is another story. BEFORE you remove the clutch from the engine, make sure that you have the right tool to center the new clutch or make the right tool to do so and test it on the old clutch. When refitting the gearbox remember that it has a very slight inclination with respect to the engine (about 10 degrees downwards if I remember correctly but I did this a long time ago). This is important otherwise you will find that the gearbox input shaft will fit into the clutch and engine. |
