I managed to spend a couple of afternoons on my Fulvias during the weekend although this did not prevent me from cycling around the area and visiting a few places. I fixed the windscreen wiper system on the Zagato which of course is different from the coupe and the berlina. It was a bit of a difficult job but now everything is OK and I have replaced the electric motor. The other job was to grease at once all the GTE berlina grease nipples. Apparently they are 11. One is for the steering idler box. On each side there is one for each balljoints (top and bottom), one for each bush (front and rear) of the lower wishbone and just one for the front bush of the top wishbone. Greasing is not simply a matter of pumping grease. The front wheels must come off and the car should rest on axle-stands. I removed all nipples, cleaned their inside and checked that their ball valve was free. Then I pumped through them high melting point grease (lithium based) until fresh grease appeared through the joint or the balljoint rubber gaiter was clearly filled up. I finally squirted some silicone based lubricant through the rubber bushes of the antiroll bar. This should ensure good operation of the suspensions. |
