Q: I would like to buy a set of original factory mags for my 1st series Zagato 1.3 sport (1968). The first thing I would like to ask is despite seeing plenty of sports with mag wheels, was this an original option and if so what type of wheels should I be looking for?
I have information telling me I can buy 5.5" X 14 Chromodora wheels that have been machined to suit series 1 hubs. This of course is not original but may be the only choice.
Being in New Zealand means my closest Lancia parts supplier is Australia. Graham O'Conner of Lambda Motors in Sydney has offered me a set of BWA wheels which he said were original options but I have not heard about these. Again there may be some machining.
Finally I have been told that Campagnolo also made compition wheels but these may be very expensive and hard to find.
I would greatly appriciate your advice on what options are available and what you think might be the right way to go.

A: I will try to answer your question but I should make clear that I have only limited details on this subject. The series 1 Zagatos had, as standard wheels, steel 4.5 x 14 J ones. The Campagnolo-made alloys were official alternatives. The series 1 Zagatos could also be fitted for competition use with the following wheels (according to the FIA racing homologation card):
steel 5.5 x 14 J (weight 7 Kg);
steel 5.5 x 13 J(6.5 Kg);
alloy 5.5 x 13 J (4.1 Kg);
alloy 5.5 x 14 J (4.8 Kg).
Some of these wheels may require widening of the wheel arches. I don't know if BWA wheels were original fitment for series 1 Zagatos, although I heard some people have fitted them with good results.
If you are happy to get standard steel wheels, these should not be too difficult to find. Have you contacted any spares suppliers in Europe? I guess the main cost could be to ship them over to NZ.
