Q: What kind of conservation do you do in order to prevent your big Fulvia fleet from damages because of long standing time?
A: Here you have to make a difference: a car never driven for 6 months (like my Fulvias were when I lived in the UK) and a car driven occasionally.
In the first case, the car must be taken to the garage for storage when the engine is fully warmed up to avoid condensation in the exhaust, store the car on axle stands (you should see how many I have of them!), pour about 5 ml of fresh engine oil (or Redex) into each cylinder and turn the engine a little bit (one full rev will do) manually on the cranckshaft.
Disconnect the battery. Leave the gearbox in neutral. Leave the windows partly open and cover the car with an old bed sheet. Every 5 weeks turn the engine manually, press the brake pedal very hard and turn manually the wheels, engage and disengage all gears while pushing the clutch fully. Turn the engine a bit when 5th gear is engaged to make sure the clutch is not seized up. When you are going to drive it again, remember that on first start-up time will be necessary to prime the fuel system and the cranckshaft bearings.
At home now I keep a year calendar in which I write when each Fulvia is used. Normally each one goes out once every 6 weeks for a minimum of 20 Km including some fast driving. When not used my cars are covered in the garage and have the battery disconnected.
Whatever you do for storage, never start the engine and have it running for a short time. This will ruin the car.
