B24 spider |
The Aurelia Spider B24, one of most fascinating cars ever built, appears in 1954. Its sporting but incredibly elegant line is with no doubt one of the Pinin Farina's masterpieces; it is not difficult to notice the analogies with another splendid creation of the Turinese car stylist, the Giulietta Spider, born a few years later.

The mechanical base is the chassis of the B20 mark IV (2451 cm3), with wheelbase reduced to 2450 mm. The performances are excellent, equal to those of the coupè; the maximum speed reaches 185 km/h. The four-speed gearbox has the lever on the floor (cloche type).

For emphasizing the extraordinarily "clean" line the first series was unprovided of door handles and side glasses, replaced by two small plexiglass panels screwed by means of wings-bolts.

How could I open the door? Acting on the leather twine placed inside the same door. In the following series these particularities were "sacrificed" in favour of the passengers convenience.
